Piggy bank Challenge and some slow stitching.

OK so I'm going to have a short whinge about the weather as it's far too hot for comfort. The temperature at night recently has been higher than it generally reaches in the daytime. I like warm weather but this is just too much and it's so humid, which makes it difficult to breathe at times. Still our house is an old Victorian terrace and the inside stays cool during the summer which is good. You tend to forget just how hot it is outside until you step out into the wall of heat. We have to water all the plants that we have in pots and hanging baskets every day to ensure they stay alive. Making sure Scamp and Picasso always have sufficient water available is a full time job. Scamp's fur has grown quite shaggy but his grooming appointment isn't until the 21st July. He always loves it when his fur is trimmed right back and he feels cool again. He likes to be sprayed with cold water to help him cool off. I have great admiration for those of you who live with these temperatures every summer or year round.

Val from Val's Quilting Studio has been running a Piggy Bank Challenge and it's time to empty our piggy banks and see how much we have managed to save. This is the end of the 5th annual challenge and I will be joining Val again when the 6th annual challenge begins on Thursday 12th July.  I have a very fat blue piggy bank who happily gobbles up any change I may care to feed to it. Fortunately I don't need to break the bank to get my money out as it has a rubber stopper on its base. 

This year my grand total was £106.43. I'm amazed as I kept on forgetting to put my change in the pig. I have put the few odd coppers and the 5p and 10p coins into a charity box that we have for the NSPCC. I have taken out £30 of the money and this will go into the guide fund raising for Mexico. The rest will get spent next weekend when I visit my favourite quilt shop. I have a small budget that I allow myself for my stitching hobby each month and the money I save in the piggy bank is in addition to this.I think it will get spent on thread as my supplies are very low. In fact I need some to be able to do the quilting on the baby quilt.

Whilst away I did a small amount of stitching on Constance. Tonight I will spend a little more time stitching and I hope to complete her coat and hat. My main problem will be staying awake as I was so hot last night I didn't sleep very well. I've stopped myself from having a nap this afternoon so I should sleep soundly tonight. Anyway here's how far I've got with Constance.

I took Constance with me on our trip as I only needed to take a couple of colours of threads. I still have to complete Earlene but what's left to do needs quite a lot of different threads. I'll get her finished over the week or next weekend.
