March roundup.

This month has flown by, it's almost blink and you missed it. It has been a fun old month in many ways, the weather has been cold and frosty at times but also warm and sunny. In between times, to keep me on my toes we've had rain. From the end of January I knew I was going to be having surgery this month and so for the first half of the month I prioritised making sure all my work commitments were up to date and easy to follow. I'd do this anyway regardless of who would be covering my work but since John was covering my teaching I made extra sure all the teaching plans were clear and easy to follow. As a result of having surgery I haven't done very much sewing, quilting or knitting but I have managed to work on some projects.

The Chookshed challenge for this month was number 2, which for me was the embroidered tablecloth. This was the situation at the beginning of the month.

Over the month I managed to move this project forward. I'm so pleased I started this embroidery as the more I do, the more I'm enjoying working on it. I'm getting much neater with the stitches and have almost got satin stitch completely mastered.

On the quilting front I created a quilt from blocks that had been lurking in my sewing cupboard for ages. The top is complete and I will be making the quilt sandwich in April. I have several quilts I need to quilt in the near future.

Over the next few days I will be looking in my sewing cupboard to discover any forgotten projects that I could work on. I have been slowly getting on with my knitting. This isn't the most recent photo and the knitting has grown quite a lot.

I've also worked on the embroidered blocks for the frog quilt. I finished two this month but they are both quite small and have limited sewing on them.

I am working on a small sewing project for the dolls house but I haven't taken any photos. I'm looking forward to discovering the challenge number for April for the Chookshed Challenge. I'm not going to look now as I'm tired and it's time for bed.

Take care

Lyndsey.

  2. Love your embroidery and your finished quilt. March seems to have been one of 'those' months for a lot of us.

  3. Your embroidered tablecloth is so pretty, and I love the colour of your knitting. My blue jumper is languishing all by itself, must get back to it again.

  4. I had surgery in March, too. Here's hoping your recovery is going well, Lyndsey! Best of luck with making some addition progress on your projects in April.

  5. Your quilt is from the same Jericho Walls block used in the quilt I've been quilting. I love that block. Hope you're feeling good after your surgery.
