July Chookshed Challenge and other plans.

June flew by, as have the last six months and so, here we are, starting the second half of the year. June was a slow month for my various projects but I have moved the Japanese quilt forward by starting to add the sashiko. This was the first block completed but there are more to show you and I have planned out the next row for when the stitching is complete

.

I also finished the pink cardigan that I started back in February. When it was finished I blocked it to complete the whole process.

I completed one of the doll house dolls. This was my June Chookshed challenge. The sad news is that I can't show you the doll as I have misplaced this project. I took this project with me when we went on our weekend trip away. I know I bought it home with me and I remember bringing the folder into the house but I can't remember where I put it. When I finish work tomorrow I'll have time to look through my sewing cupboard and I'll take a photo to show you. It was very fiddly to make. So while I'm busy looking for the doll I made let's find out what the challenge is for July

No 9 was picked for July and my number 9 was  Kantha, Birds in Stitches.

There are 22 individual bird patterns in the book and I want to make a quilt using the patterns. My aim is to complete at least one of the bird stitcheries over this month. I should be able to set up the first piece over the weekend as I'm hoping I have enough fabric for the backing in my stash and I'll be using thread that I already have. I'm looking forward to making a start on this.

I also want to finish the crocheted blanket this month. I put this on hold in June while I finished off my cardigan. I am not looking forward to weaving all the ends in.

This week, Sunday is my sewing day. I hoping to get a lot of quilting done on the dinosaur quilt. I haven't worked on this for some time but it would be amazing if I could finish it this month. Once I get home from work tomorrow evening, I will plan out my available sewing days over July and make some decisions on what I need to work on. We have a trip away planned for one of the weekends but otherwise we have no fixed plans for the month.

Tomorrow I need to be up at 5:30 so I'm off to bed. There is a nice breeze at the moment and it should make for a very good night's sleep.

Take care

Lyndsey
