A visit to my favourite quilt shop.

Yesterday, we visited my favourite quilt shop, Midsomer Quilting. It's always fun to visit even if I don't need any supplies. The shop is like one big family and you are always welcomed. There were so many people in on Sunday. Many I had met and chatted to before but some were new. Somehow I ended up in several discussions. These ranged from, which fabric do you think would look better? which thread do you use for hand quilting? have you done any sashiko and is it fun to do? and have you made up an advent calendar and does it work? There is a nice seating area, and tea, coffee and biscuits are served. There is always a lot of laughter and it is quite difficult to do a quick in and out visit. I always leave a lot of time for my visits as I get a lot of inspiration whilst I'm there. The shop has a good online presence and their delivery service within the UK is very quick.  I didn't need very much this visit and I mainly got fat quarters and 1 reel of thread that I use for piecing.

All of these fabrics are for a purpose in one of my current projects or in preparation for something I will start in the new year.

Over the month I have been working on the grandmothers garden quilt. I would like to have this finished by the turn of the year. I'm not sure if that will happen but a girl can dream. Over the weekend I took some fabric and needle and thread with me to cut more hexagons for the quilt.

I'm really enjoying working on these hexies, but my fingers are getting a little sore from all the hand stitching. I have never worked out how to use a thimble but I really must practice if I'm going to continue to enjoy hand stitching. Tomorrow is the last day of September and time to move on to the last Chookshed challenge of the year but I will be continuing to work on this quilt as well as October's challenge. Tomorrow I'll show what I've achieved over this month.

Take care

Lyndsey
