On Saturday we arranged with older daughter and grandson to go for a walk at Kew Gardens. It was a bright but cool day and perfect weather for a walk. Fluffy clouds against a beautiful blue sky.
Our grandson was very taken with our shadows and loved that his shadow was really tall.
Kew Palace was looking pretty in the sun. I've walked past the palace on numerous occasions but I've never been inside. I've put this on my list for 2026 of places I must visit.
Our grandson was very into 'spotting' things. He spotted these huge fir cones on the tree.
He wanted to know what all the boards and signs said, he particularly liked the one that said 'please don't tread on me I'm growing'. He spent time at each flower bed to see if it had this sign and told us what it said each time. This kept him fully occupied for ages. As we walked we could see the cables etc for the Christmas light show. We visited last year and it was good but we didn't book this year. I like to do different things in the run up to Christmas. These were the lights on the lake. For some reason I got my fingers in the photo. Grandson was worried we wouldn't be able to see the fish but we spotted them when we walked round the edge. The carp are really big.
On Sunday I found the knitting pattern for the baby blanket and so I started knitting. I already had the yarn and she liked the colour so I could start straight away. My daughter likes the idea of using what you have rather than always buying new.
This is the same blanket pattern I've knitted several times. The photo was taken before this version of the blanket was blocked. It has 4 blocks of pattern going across.
I'd better get on with knitting over the Christmas break . Yesterday evening I finished stitching down the binding on the St Louis 16 patch quilt. This is now ready to be wrapped and then it can go to its new owner.
I think we are now all ready for Christmas. I've completed all the shopping, food has been delivered. Opps no, I still need to get a new toy each for both of our dogs. I'll go and get them later today. This evening I will sit and knit whilst watching a film or something but for the rest of the day I want to work on the doll's house. I haven't done anything to it in months.
Take care
Lyndsey
