December round up and 2013 review.

What's New?

Here we are at December 31st 2013 and here in London UK the New Year is 2 hours and 15 minutes away.I always like the New Year as it feels like a new beginning but I'm not making any resolutions as they tend not to last beyond the end of January. Instead over the year I'm going to try and make some small sustainable changes that will help make life more comfortable. For now back to a review of my December goals and an overview of the year.

In December I set myself two goals. The first one I completed and felt really pleased about. My main goal was to complete my holiday quilt and use it on my bed for Christmas. This was completed in time and I love it. Scamp decided he needed to try it out and to be in the photos.

Hand stitching the back of the binding seemed to take forever. I'm sure there were a lot more than four sides to this quilt.

My second goal was to finish knitting John's jumper. I still haven't quite finished the back but I got him another Christmas present and he will have the jumper as soon as it is done.

I started my NewFO for December at the end of last week and I can't show you my progress so far as it is my project for the 'Wake up to Kona' blog hop. I will show all on my day which is January 10th. Here is a photo of some of the fabric cut out and awaiting sewing.

The quilt top is more or less finished but I need to add the borders.

So before I finish this post I thought I'd look at what I have done this year as NewFO's

Scamp's quilt. was my January NewFO and also a finish.

 February NewFO and finish.

In March I had 2 NewFO's, my Nancy Drew quilt and my swoon quilt.

Both quilts have been completed and gifted to their new homes. The swoon quilt looked very crumpled in this photo as it had been wrapped up and transported. (I forgot to take a photo before it was wrapped.)

There were two NewFO's in April. A mini quilt for our notice board at Guides,

and a schnibble - Hat trick. This used a few pieces from my scrap boxes!

NewFO's in May included a 'bird quilt. The quilt sandwich is made but I need to quilt it

Another Schnibble, this time Gentle Art. This was given as a cuddle quilt to a friend's new baby.

Also a mini quilt for a swap

In June I made another Schnibble quilt. I quilted this one recently and it is ready to go to its new home. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the pattern

I also made this cute tote bag

and started this catalicious cross stitch. I haven't quite finished this. I get bored easily with cross stitch but I will get it out again soon and complete it.

July's NewFO was a baby quilt for one of my work colleagues new daughter.

In August I did very little sewing but I did take Guides to Switzerland for a two week camp. My NewFO was made for the Hexi queen blog hop. I love the fruit fabrics.

My September NewFO's were two baby quilts and to start my'It's a dogs life' quilt

The larger baby quilt has still to be quilted. The smaller one is finished and has gone to it's new home.

The first block of the dog quilt.

In October my NewFO's were mug rugs.

Finally November's NewFO was to start the quilt that Lucy wants made for her friend Jennifer.

The first block completed.

I'm exhausted  having gone through what I've done this year. This is just the pieces I have labelled as NewFO's so there are lots of other projects. So before I go and lie down to recover I'm going to link this post with Melissa at Sew Bittersweet designs for the final link party of 2013 A lovely year of finishes. Also linking with Barbara at Cat Patches for her NewFO linky party and Connie at Freemotion by the river for her Tuesday link party.

Wishing you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

  8. What fun to see all those projects in one place. You did a lot! When I had stitch a binding on a large quilt, I always start near a corner on the longest end. Then when I turn that laaassst corner - boom - I am almost done!!!
