Slow stitching

Over the last few days I've been able to spend time enjoying some slow stitching but I've also had a few problems along the way. I've been working on the bunny garden embroidery this week. On Thursday my embroidery was involved in a slight accident. Picasso our cat is getting on in age, he's at least 17 years because that's how long he's lived with us, and he was fully grown when we got him as a rescue cat. He was diagnosed with renal failure last April and since then we have had occasional puddles on the floor. When I got home on Thursday I found my embroidery on the floor instead of on the table where I'd left it. Casso had also been caught short and he'd peed over my embroidery. Because of his renal problems his pee is thick, dark and yukky. I'd used fabric solvy on this piece and this had started to dissolve. It smelt awful and was all pulled out of shape by the partly dissolved fabric solvy. At first I thought about just throwing it out and starting again. Then I thought about the time I'd put into this piece and decided to try and save it. Lots of fresh water eventually got all the fabric solvy out of the fabric. This was hard going because it had reset like glue on the fabric and stitches. Then I gave it a good wash. Once it was dry there was no staining or smell so I got out my light box and drew out the bits of the pattern that were now missing. I finally finished this piece earlier this evening.

Having finished that piece I pulled out one of my unfinished bag ladies. Constance still needs some work but shouldn't take too long.

This week I also want to stitch the binding onto my Christmas quilt. I'm busy at work through to Thursday evening so I'm not sure how much I'll get done.

This weekend John and I went to Somerset on one of our short adventures. It meant I could visit my favourite quilt shop which was an added bonus. I'l tell you about our trip tomorrow.  It's almost time for bed and I have a busy day tomorrow but I want to spend the last bit of the evening deciding what to do as my monthly goal for February.

I'm linking this post with Kathy from Kathy's Quits for her Slow Sunday Stitching I love to see what everyone is working on.

  5. Oh my gosh...nice save on the Bunny Garden. That's my nightmare...that someone will barf on something. Peeing is probably even worse.

  6. Ah dear, poor cat with his renal problems. What a sight to greet you returning home with your embroidery on the floor and sopping wet. I'm so pleased that you managed to save your embroidery.
